Hillmann Consulting, LLC has been approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia to conduct Mold Inspector Training. We’re currently in the process of putting together our training schedule for 2012, but our next class is being planned for February. The course will consist of a total of 24 hours, broken up in three eight (8) hour training classes, taking place on consecutive days.
The Mold Inspector Training course will provide instruction and training with regard to the evaluation of water damage and mold growth as part of building inspections. Proper procedures and protocols for mold testing will also be discussed. Hillmann Consulting, LLC’s course is designed to cover the following topics:
• How to evaluate the potential for mold growth during a building inspection
• How to recognize the signs of a potential mold problem in a building
• Common causes of water intrusion
• Common areas of hidden mold growth
• The various types and methods of mold sampling and the pros and cons associated with each method
• Developing a mold sampling plan
• Laboratory selection and analysis
• Interpreting laboratory results
• Factors that may affect sample results
• Field documentation
• Date evaluation and report preparation
• Proper documentation for reports
• Structural diagrams and chain-of-custody forms
The mission of our Mold Inspector Training is to ensure that persons conducting mold assessment and remediation services are properly trained and licensed, and following minimum standards that protect the health of workers and building occupants. There will be a 3-hour, closed-book, multiple choice exam at the conclusion of our training. Participants must score a 70% or higher in order to pass the course.

EPCRA SARA TITLE III reporting requirements include facilities who fall under OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard and are above published thresholds of reportable chemicals. Threshold reporting requirements vary from state to state and are updated on a regular basis. The purpose of the standard is to allow local and state jurisdictions to plan for an emergency response in facilities which house hazardous chemicals.
