Lead Detection and Monitoring

Lead is a known health hazard to humans, particularly children. Lead can be found in paint, drinking water and soil. Lead detection methodology depends on the suspected lead source.

An X-Ray Fluorescence machine (XRF) is used in accordance with U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines to detect the presence of lead in paint. Hillmann Environmental Group has trained and licensed staff and owns the latest XRF technology to provide rapid, accurate reports. XRF lead inspections and hazard assessments are also provided for the Residential Lead Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act (part of Title X).

Water samples are collected following U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines and analyzed by atomic absorption. Similar analytical techniques are employed for lead in soil.

Hillmann Environmental Group provides monitoring services during remediation projects. Air samples are taken to ensure worker safety and compliance with OSHA guidelines in addition to comparison of levels outside work areas. Wipe samples and visual inspections ensure compliance with HUD and EPA guidelines.
